Simplicity.
Freedom.

Light over darkness.

As I approach 2020, like everyone I have been thinking a lot about what the next year will look like. I am so hopeful, and encouraged about the coming year. Over the past year I have been on a personal and spiritual journey, and as a result, I feel like it has started to impact my overall outlook and plans as an artist.

Being known for enthusiastically bright and energetic work, this pull towards simplicity in my artwork is very interesting to me. I want to explore the juxtaposition of simplicity and earthy neutrals with my love for brights and fun unexpected elements. The purpose of me sharing my artwork, and having this art business is to make a clear connection to people between their surroundings, and the objects and items they place in their surroundings, and the impact these objects have on their journey. I believe that having objects you are deeply connected to (and yes this includes things from artwork, to beautiful accessories) can have a big influence on your day to day. Having a space where you feel at home, or having a small moment of beauty pop out of your purse at work. Who doesn’t love seeing beautiful moments in their everyday.? Who doesn’t wish for more of the beautiful moments every single day?

I want to explore the relationship between trauma and healing. Light and Dark. Natural and Created. I find these opposites and how they are entangled so fascinating.

They say life inspires art, and for me that is so intensely true. This journey of self reflection, and love has really opened my eyes to how these things are so closely connected. I want to pour emotion into my work, and really focus on freeing up my hands from this slight rigidity that so far I have not been able to overcome. I want the pieces and designs I create in 2020 to be so mindful, and so raw. I have visions of starting with dark dark base colours, and building and building and building until the light overpowers the dark. The light will be informed by the dark, but it will not be controlled by the dark. I hope that people can really start to see this innate ability that art has to give them moments of calm, peace and reflection.

There’s always a glimmer in those who have been through the dark

I have a deep calling to create larger pieces of work. For a variety of reasons for years I have worked small, but I want to throw caution to the wind and play big. Dream big, commit big, and let loose. See where this commitment to my work takes me. 2019 has been spotty in terms of the amount of time I truly had to work on my art, and to explore and find my style and voice. I look forward to getting into the studio and really putting in the time and the love, and getting into that powerful groove that every single artist longs for. I want to also embrace periods of time where reflection and stillness is a part of the art journey. I want to be ok with letting my creativity have time to breathe and not forcing it. Rest and play. Calm and Energetic. Opposites.

I will continue to design for my Partners that I have been working with for years. (Casetify and Deny) and welcome collaborations and new projects in this New Year. I think the year ahead will be truly the beginning of my new life, and my new Brand and I am all for it.

Thank you for being here with me, through the thick and the thin, and for supporting me, both personally and by purchasing my work, and products. Truly this business has been a blessing to me and to my family, as your support obviously makes a large financial difference in our life- I am blessed to live and breathe and work with my passion, and I know just how rare that is. I commit to taking this blessing and running with it, and using my love for art, and my wish to encourage and uplift others as my true calling.

Be blessed friends, Let’s take on this year together!
You’re beautiful because you know your own darkness, and still, that alone doesn’t stop you from finding your own light.
